Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Anglican?

An Anglican is a Christian whose belief and practice is rooted in the Bible, guided by the teachings and tradition of the early Christian Fathers, and structured by the traditional Book of Common Prayer.

Are you Catholic?

We are Anglican because we worship in the Anglican tradition with its roots in the Book of Common Prayer. We are Catholic because we believe and practice the universal or Catholic faith of the church that has been handed down to us from the time of the Apostles.

What do I need to do to become a member of your church?

We welcome new members, and we invite you to join us one Sunday. We hope that you will enjoy our community, be enriched by our worship, and interested in joining us. Those who are interested in becoming a member of our parish should feel comfortable joining us for services several times as well as for coffee hour after service. This is a prime time to speak to one of of our priests as well. They will have the specific information you need to officially join our parish.

I want to have my child baptized, but I am not a member of your church. Will you do this for me?

We will be happy to baptize your child. When a child is baptized, he or she, becomes a child of God, a member of His household and is promised the forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. This is accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit who seals the child as God's own forever. Parents and Godparents take upon themselves the responsibility to see to it that the child will grow in the knowledge and love of God and the responsibility of being a Christian. If you are willing to assume that responsibility then please come to our church and meet one of our priests and learn more about baptism and what it means for you and your child.

What do I need to do to get married in your church?

Our church considers marriage to be a sacrament. To be married in our church you must be committed to Christ and his church and you must attend several sessions of pre-marital counseling. We welcome those who are planning to get married and have questions about the faith. Call us at (518) 348-0842, and we will arrange an appointment.

Will you open your church for a funeral service for anyone?

In general, we will perform a funeral because the church has always understood the burial of the dead to be a work of mercy. Call us at (518) 348-0842, and we will talk to you about your individual situation.
