Our parish picnic was held Sunday afternoon, July 18 at the David Bullard and Hilary Tann's historic home near Schuylerville. Featured this year was a spectacular deviled egg competition. Hoping for reward pinickers learned too late that the competition was in fact a ruse to satisfy Dave Bullard's particular fondness for deviled eggs. A fierce game of croquet tested manners and tempers. Several players complained saying that they had chosen defective mallets. Coming from behind Herb Higham won. A rumor that he had cheated is being whispered about. Our organist, who witnessed the winning strokes, deplores the churlishness of the accusation. Herb, he says, is honest because he is a strong singer who drowns out wrong notes.
